To help us achieve this we are looking for a Chargehand to assist and support our Foreman and team. If you are an experienced Chargehand within the construction industry and are looking for a career in a reputable business, then this is the role for you

About The Role:


The Chargehand will lead in the absence of the Foreman and will be involved in Pump Fitting maintenance as required, ensuring daily tasks and timelines are met within the team.


Due to the nature of our workshop operation this role will be actively responsible for Health & Safety, People Management, Workshop Co-ordination and the care of Selwood tools & equipment.


Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent.
  • CITB National Construction College Certificate in Test and Inspection.
  • Must have working knowledge & understanding of the LOLER regulations.
  • Must have good working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety and Transport legislation.
  • Possession of a full valid driving licence relevant to the vehicle category required to be driven, endorsed by no more than 6 penalty points

Preferred:

  • IT competent to a high level
  • Effective communication skills
  • Time management
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative at all times

Responsibilities of this role include:

Health and Safety

  • Carry out maintenance in compliance with recommended manufacturers' procedures and have regard for own health and safety, company employees, customers, general public and the environment.
  • Adhere to the company's QHSE procedures at all times.

Workshop Coordination

  • Proactively assist the Forman with the development and advancement of the workshop staff and premises.
  • At all times set a professional example of good discipline, ensure that all Company property and equipment is maintained to the required Company standard to prevent any accident or injury to any person or damage to Company property.
  • In the absence of the Foreman ensure that all the necessary administration required for the control of work within the department is completed and submitted to the Branch Manager in a timely manner.
  • Report to the Foreman proposals for modifications to machines or equipment to increase safe working practises.
  • You will have the ability to support the Foreman to improve work methods, systems, procedures and equipment that are likely to reduce waste and cost. Assisting, and where appropriate leading with the implementation of those proposals when approved.
  • You will help to maintain a workshop repair programme for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of hire fleet, sales and customers' machines.
