Basic Function:


Working closely with the Operations and Production Engineering teams you will be responsible for leading the planning and implementation of major facilities improvement projects, in addition to facility modifications and upgrades in line with requirements driven by new product introductions ensuring lean working practices are facilitated by the workshop layout.


You will be required to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of the site utilities and facilities equipment, infrastructure and building fabric to ensure continued business continuity under business growth conditions.

Facilitate through sub-contract resource machine servicing and breakdown management, coolant management monitoring, maintenance and reporting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

The Facilities Lead is responsible for leading major facilities improvement and sustainability programmes.

They are also responsible for delivering the following services to the business through a combination of personal hands on work, leadership, delegation and management of sub-contract services:

  • Managing of ongoing facilities improvement activities in line with business growth
  • Maintain all elements of the building fabric both internal and external, ensuring that the facility meets health and safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Management through subcontract resource, of machine maintenance and servicing regime to maximise resource availability and efficiency.
  • Ensure key services (heat, lighting, power, air conditioning etc) are monitored for effectiveness and maximum uptime and all regulatory checks are planned, performed and recorded.
  • In conjunction with all relevant stakeholders, plan and implement the design of production plant, offices, and lean production lines in order to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency.
  • To produce project budgets and ensure timely delivery of projects within budget.
  • Negotiating the best terms with contractors and suppliers.
  • To monitor and advise on potential energy efficiency savings.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety and regulatory legislation.
  • To develop a strategy to implement the requirements of ISO14001 environmental standard into the business.
  • To be responsible for the introduction of business improvement incentives including but not limited to the following activities, introduction of an electronic asset management system, introduction of a maintenance monitoring software system, introduction of electronic visitor and contractor monitoring system.
  • Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time as determined by the company and/or your Line Manager.

Knowledge & Ability Required
The post holder must be able to demonstrate previous knowledge and experience in facilities engineering and is required to show:

  • Strong team-working and leadership experience, with the drive and flexibility to maintain pace of work as priorities and requirements change.
  • Motivation and initiative with demonstrated time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • The proven ability to lead infrastructure projects at pace.
  • Experience of major facilities improvement projects, inclusive of machine and assembly cell relocation, continuous improvements and long term facility support.
  • To be proactive in Risk Management strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • To be able to demonstrate good organisational skills.
  • To be highly motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and education.
  • CAD experience to develop plant layouts (is preferred but not essential)
  • To exhibit a strong Can Do / Will Do attitude.
  • Willingness to support, through flexible working patterns, the management of contract services during out of hours working practices.
