HV Project Engineer / SAP

The successful individual must have at least five years' experience within the high voltage power sector operating as a Project Engineer or a Senior Authorised Person (SAP).

Must currently hold (or have held) 11kv or 33kv authorisations on private networks or DNOs.

Our client is one of the UK's leading is a multi-disciplinary HV power, renewable energy, EV and utilities contracting business, with the skills and expertise to deliver complex projects in highly regulated and hazardous environments across a number of different service lines, regional offices and business units.

Overview

Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced HV Project Engineer/SAP.

Reporting to the management team, the main purpose of this role will be the responsibility of supporting the operational delivery of HV and LV installations for some of the UK's biggest roll out of Electric Vehicle (EV), Renewables and I&C projects, along with direct responsibility for the works carried out by junior team members.

Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring all electricity networks are installed in a safe and professional manner and to a high standard in line with industry regulations and the company's safe working practises.

The Role

  • Working of some the biggest low carbon and renewable energy projects in the UK
  • Manage and supervise all site personnel working on HV & LV networks
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of HV / LV distribution systems
  • Plan and co-ordinate projects and fault response callouts
  • Assist in the training and development of colleagues wishing to become an LV AP or HV AP
  • Carry out audits, produce reports for works undertaken and manage project budgets to ensure team efficiency, and safe and timely delivery to client expectations and company standards
  • Act as a Standby Engineer for our client's extensive O&M portfolio of sites
  • Managing client and key stakeholder relationships in a professional and courteous manner
  • You will go through our client's industry leading induction and onboarding process and have opportunities to develop further through their in-house training academy
The Person

  • Assessing potentially hazardous and dangerous situations, taking appropriate action to ensure the safety of personnel, other site operatives and the public
  • Undertaking site specific risk assessments and creating RAMS, and competent in issuing and cancelling safety documents
  • Ensuring personnel and the wider team understand their duties under safety documents
  • Carrying out network operations under instruction from Network Control Engineers
  • Understanding the local network anomalies and ensuring correct phase rotation
  • Currently hold (or have held) authorisations up to 33kV including permit to work (we'll accept 11KV accompanied with extensive experience), and this can be on either DNO or private networks.
  • CSCS card and full UK driving licence holder
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets and laptops
