ESG Manager - Sustainable Investment

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to make a significant impact in the field of ESG? We are excited to present an excellent opportunity for an ESG Manager to join a leading investment firm renowned for its commitment to sustainable growth and innovation.

Our client is the UK's most active provider of long-term capital to small and mid-sized companies.

Since its inception in 2011, the firm has invested over £2.5 billion in a diverse portfolio of more than 500 growing companies across various sectors, including notable names like Gousto, Emma Bridgewater, Elvie, Joe&Seph's, and Seasalt.

With a talented team of over 190 professionals operating from 16 offices nationwide, they invest at all stages of growth, from early to quoted, typically investing between £1m and £20m for a minority stake in businesses.

The business became the first investment company to receive the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise and Innovation, cementing its leading position in the market.

Their digital and technology transformation programs are key to their ongoing growth strategy.

As the ESG Manager you will play a crucial role in advancing the firm's approach to sustainable growth, with a strong emphasis on managing climate and nature-based risks and opportunities.

This role involves supporting the internal ESG performance and working closely with portfolio companies to drive sustainable practices and compliance with relevant standards.

The mix of work will be 40% internal and 60% portfolio-focused.

It offers a fantastic opportunity for professional development in ESG, allowing the incumbent to lead exciting projects and gain valuable experience in sustainability strategy, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Your key responsibilities will include contributing to the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, particularly in environmental performance, and understanding the impact of climate and nature-based risks on both the business and its investment portfolio.

In the role of ESG Manager, you will ensure compliance with UK and EU-focused reporting standards such as the UK Sustainable Disclosure Requirements (SDR), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

You will collaborate with portfolio companies to enhance their ESG performance, aligning with the firm's goals and leveraging their expertise to provide effective solutions.

The role also involves supporting communication on ESG performance and learnings for both internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends, regulations, and best practices in climate and environmental risk management are integral parts of this position.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and interest in ESG, particularly in climate and nature-based risks and their impact on companies.

Familiarity with UK and EU reporting standards is essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills are required.

Experience in climate risk modeling and analysis, as well as a solid knowledge of the Social and Governance aspects of ESG, would be highly desirable.

The position is available in London, Manchester, or Birmingham and reports directly to the Head of ESG.

If you are ready to take on this challenging and rewarding role, apply now to join a dynamic team dedicated to driving sustainable growth and innovation in the investment sector.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will receive a competitive salary based on your skill set and experience.
