Assistant Accountant, temping job in Darlington 6 months+

Your new company

This large UK organisation has a need for an experienced Assistant Accountant to provide ongoing temping cover for at least 6 months.

The role is Darlington based with hybrid working.

Your new role
In this role you will help us to succeed by:

  • Posting of required monthly journals to produce timely & relevant monthly accounts for all business units including all P&L lines, accruals, prepayments etc for centrally managed costs.
  • Specific areas of responsibility will be rotated between Assistant Accountants on a regular basis to provide development opportunities and job role cover.

Areas Covered:

  • Fixed Assets
  • Property Costs (Rent, Rates Utilities)
  • Staff Related Costs (Payroll, Travel, Credit Cards, Mobile Phones etc.)
  • IT Department Costs
  • VAT analysis
  • Monthly reporting requirements to Head Office
  • Timely production of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items for area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for ensuring that accounting periods are opened and closed on all systems to company deadlines.
  • Setting up new users, accounts and amending reports in Company's Financial systems.
  • Liaising with auditors and other external stakeholders or statutory agencies.
  • Support the Management Accountant and Financial Controller in ad hoc projects.

What you'll need to succeed

A proven track record of working at this level, you will be immediately available or have a couple of weeks notice period.

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines within company procedures
  • Ability to communicate well by all methods to all levels of people, internal and external
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of SAP advantageous
  • Demonstrate role flexibility as may be asked to carry out various duties in the department

Qualifications:

  • AAT Qualified / CIMA Part Qualified
