Job Summary

The Transformation Lead role is a crucial role within the Northwest Universal Credit and Universal Credit Review Leadership Team, responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing change in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

More About the Role:

You will analyze business-wide changes, not only current but also future alterations, evaluating the Area's readiness and impacts. A significant aspect of the role involves identifying and addressing gaps in preparing our personnel for change and influencing the timing and method of change implementation.

Your ability to cultivate and maintain solid working relationships, engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders to coordinate, facilitate, and spearhead the development of opportunities and solutions for successful change implementation, is critical. You will represent the Area Director to clearly comprehend and communicate the business implications of successful change implementation, highlighting the repercussions if this is not achieved.

The Area Transformation Lead plays a pivotal role in our organization by providing a direct link to local operations through regular communication, utilizing effective storytelling to encourage open dialogue about the effects of change, its alignment with the broader change agenda, and its implications for our frontline service providers.

This will involve preparing and delivering presentations through various mediums both internally and externally. Additionally, drafting concise, comprehensive, well-informed communication materials to a high standard, offering clearly defined options and well-thought-out recommendations for senior leaders' consideration.

The role will involve assessing and negotiating readiness to accept change options while aligning with Program Change Owners and strategic objectives. The successful candidate will analyze, assess, and interpret data and other relevant information to identify issues and proactively devise solutions and options to address concerns.

In terms of the work environment, this position may be suitable for a hybrid working model, where employees split their time between the DWP office and remote work. This arrangement is voluntary and non-contractual, with the office being the primary contractual location. The number of days individuals can work remotely will be primarily determined by business requirements, considering personal and other relevant circumstances. If selected, potential opportunities for hybrid work will be discussed with individuals before they assume their role.

Person Specification
  • Proven leadership experience demonstrating the ability to lead and influence change across a large operational delivery area alongside senior leadership teams.
  • A solid understanding of Universal Credit and the Department's strategic priorities.
  • The capability to evaluate change impacts, develop solutions, and effectively articulate the effects of change to various audiences.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating change and communication strategies that promote a collaborative approach to change across the organization.
  • Ability to instill ownership and expertise in change leadership at all organizational levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills that lead to buy-in, collaboration, and effective working relationships to achieve exceptional business results.
  • Excellent writing, briefing, and communication skills, with advanced digital proficiency in using Office 365 products.
  • Well-honed planning and organizational skills, adept at handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, and working independently under tight deadlines.
