Job Title:

TRAINEE SURVEYOR**We have an amazing opportunity for a Trainee Surveyor to join the Asset Delivery Team at First Garden Cities Homes.


This exciting opportunity will allow you to gain a broad knowledge of building surveying whilst gaining experience in different elements of surveying, and at the same time gaining a surveying qualification with the financial assistance of FGCH.

Responsible to:

RESPONSIVE MAINTENANCE SENIOR SURVEYOR

Job purpose:

  • To work as a member of a small team responsible for assisting in supervision of daytoday repairs and maintenance works, assisting with inspections, specifying and supervising works to occupied and void properties and minor adaptations through the direct labour operatives and external contractors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Scheduling of works, supervise and post inspection on completion to ensure value for money and customer satisfaction
  • Assist with checking, approval and passing for payment all contractors' invoices
  • Keeping records as required
  • Assisting with monitoring of weekly expenditure budget
  • Helping to process and manage all void properties, ensuring they are ready to be let in accordance with the void procedure and letting standards
  • Partake in inspections of all properties upon notice of termination, assist with preparation of schedule of works and arranging recharge where appropriate.
  • Carry out inspections to aid FGCH compliance of key statutory areas
  • Assist the line manager with the preparation of all maintenancebased reports and budgets
  • Carry out additional responsibilities associated with the job title and postholder's capabilities as required.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • An interest and willingness to undertake or complete a relevant surveyor qualification to develop a career in surveying with FGCH financial assistance
  • Knowledge of construction and building services technology
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • MS Word and Excel competence
  • An ability to use IT for cost control, project management and records management
  • Understanding of providing excellent service delivery to internal and external customers
  • Ability to work under own initiative and meet business deadlines for preparation of work surveys
  • A logical approach to problem solving
  • Project management skills with the ability to deliver several projects on time
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • A strong ability to foster sound internal and external relations
  • Decisiveness
  • Personal and flexible approach
  • Assertiveness and the ability to deal with difficult interpersonal situations

Desirable:

  • Surveying experience
  • Keep up to date with current trends, developments, legislation changes and technology affecting are of operation
