Job title:
Environmental Educator

Duties:
The successful applicant will assist in the running of five after-school Wildlife/Bushcraft Clubs at primary schools in Edinburgh.

Our Clubs are designed to introduce children to their local wild places and spark a passion for wildlife, and involve many varied and fun activities.


Job purpose:

The purpose of this role is to inspire and enthuse children and young adults about the natural world, whilst encouraging schools to embrace outdoor learning.

Accountabilities

Wildlife Clubs:
Engage children in the activities you are running in a fun and exciting way. Maintain the reputation and popularity of the clubs.


Curriculum-based teaching: Assist with and run teaching sessions in a professional manner, being aware of the necessary structure and target learning achievements.

Be able to spark enthusiasm in both children and teachers/other adults who may be assisting.

Communication:
You must be able to communicate with parents and teachers in a friendly and cooperative manner. Earth Calling's reputation is based on creating good relationships with schools and families. It is therefore essential that you follow these standards.

Health and Safety:
The safety of both children and staff is of paramount importance.

Children will be under your supervision and it is essential that they are aware of rules and are supervised to the required level.

You will be made aware of necessary codes of conduct before assisting the running of Wildlife Clubs, after which time the safety of everyone under your supervision will be your own responsibility.
