Responsibilities

  • Assess the driving of all prospective new employees, prior to job offer.
  • Assess the competence of all new employees to ensure they are competent to operate the vehicle unsupervised following their initial induction training period.
  • Provide periodic and targeted assessments of current driving staff to ensure they are safe and fuelefficient drivers.
  • Must be prepared to undertake driving duties during peak operating times.
  • Observe and understand all safe systems of work, constantly observing drivers conducting themselves correctly in this regard; support compliance processes, procedure and ensuring a proactive approach to meet strict standards.
  • Monitor the standard of driver's preuse inspections.
  • Ensure the required professional ethos is established and maintained throughout the company's driving operations.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and best practice are adhered to, including ensuring the fleet operates within the correct legal boundaries, with particular emphasis on preuse checks, wheel security, driving standards and vehicle CCTV.
  • Complete eyesight checks and fitness to work interviews.
  • Deliver both individual and depot toolbox talks.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • C+E driving license
  • Experience within a driver trainer role mandatory.
  • Driver trainer qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least five years heavy goods vehicle driving experience.
  • Excellent communicator, with a unwaveringly positive attitude.
