Job Title: Child Welfare Social Worker - Intervention and Planning Specialist

Job Description:

  • Main Role: Stand out in social work within a diverse team, taking the lead in providing support for families caring for teenagers encountering challenges like child exploitation, youth violence, and group offenses.
  • Enhancing Resilience: Boost the resilience of children, youth, and families using proven strategies for lasting changes.
  • Handling Complex Situations: Tackle challenging situations with the guidance of your supervisor and the team, ensuring effective risk management and resolution of family issues.
  • Building Relationships: Form strong connections and maintain respectful rapport with children, youth, and families, accurately recording their perspectives.
  • Engagement and Interaction: Regularly engage and communicate with support systems for children, youth, and families, incorporating their feedback into assessments and strategies.
  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough evaluations of children and youth's situations, using observations and data to guide interventions and service recommendations.
  • Hands-On Work: Work directly with families in different environments, including their homes, to implement interventions and boost resilience, always prioritizing the children's best interests.
  • Trust and Commitment: Build trust and commitment with teenagers, promptly addressing any concerns about parenting or child safety.
  • Developing Change Plans: Create and execute effective change plans with relevant professionals and family members, ensuring clear goals, support systems, and monitoring processes.
  • Monitoring Progress: Use assessment tools to monitor the progress and effectiveness of interventions, offering regular updates to families.
  • Documentation and Representation: Prepare detailed reports based on evidence about your work with children, youth, and families, and represent the Council in legal settings when needed.
  • Sharing Knowledge: Proactively share information about local resources and support services with families, facilitating connections as required.
  • Flexibility: Showcase reliability and flexibility in your work hours to meet the diverse needs of children, youth, and families.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-qualification experience in statutory Social Work for Child Welfare in the UK.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a social worker in children's services in the UK.
  • Completion of the ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment).
  • Experience working with children and families in various settings.
  • Dealing with high-risk adolescents.
  • Experience in statutory Child Protection work.
  • Essential training in relevant areas such as Children Act, Child Protection Work, Direct Work with Children, Assessment skills, Integrated Children's System.
  • Proficiency in Level Two/Three Skills and Competency Framework for Social Workers, and Children Knowledge and Skills Statements.
