This Knowledge Transfer Partnership project aims to extend an individual's independent living by using machine learning and artificial intelligence to process data collected through sensors in the home, to indicate a decline in wellbeing, allowing a care professional to make an early intervention (e.g., in the case of higher risk of a potential fall).


Skills/ experience required include:

  • Have a strong foundation in data science and data analytics including experience with machine learning algorithms. Experience in time series analysis and forecasting would be advantageous.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and experience of using Python.
  • Good software engineering skills including appreciation of user or customer involvement in the development process.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills in order to take ownership of the project and ensure it progresses to achieve the agreed objectives.
  • Interpersonal skills will be important to ensure staff buyin and credibility of the associate with a range of different stakeholders and seniority levels.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are collaborative, three-way partnerships creating positive impact and driving innovation by linking various businesses with the UK's world class knowledge bases to deliver innovation projects led by skilled graduates.


Aston University:

You will work in a project team with Felipe Campelo, Luis Manso, Martin Rudorfer, Zhuangzhuang Dai, Ahmad Beltagui and the Senior Management Team at Legrand with the support of the IUK's Knowledge Transfer Adviser.


Location:

You have the choice to be primarily based at either Aston University (Aston Street, Birmingham, B4 7ET), or one of Legrand Care's offices (either 5300 Lakeside, Cheadle, Stockport, Cheshire, SK8 3GP or 5 Silverton Court, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 7RY).

There is expected to be regular travel between all sites depending on the needs of the project.
