IStructE is the professional body for structural engineers and a charity. We have a global membership who have designed many of the world's iconic structures as well as many of the buildings and bridges we take almost for granted in our daily lives. Creating safe, sustainable structures for the benefit of the public is at the heart of our remit, with structural engineering a main driver of the impact construction has on natural resources and climate change. The use of digital tools allows us to succeed in our goals.
We are passionate about inclusion and work hard to help those with talent, irrespective of background, to find and develop a route into the profession. Many of our members work to support the world's most vulnerable communities, especially those living in places prone to natural hazards such as earthquakes and extreme flooding, which we look to provide the tools to mitigate.

The Role
Take a leading role in supporting and developing the technical awareness and understanding of integrated computational design and digital processes across the Institution and its members in meeting our safety and sustainability goals and advancing the science of structural engineering. Develop and work on a range of initiatives for members related to integrated computational design and digital processes, which will ensure that they remain at the forefront of technological changes within their field, with a view to supporting member knowledge enhancement to the further benefit of their clients and wider society.
To be shortlisted for this post, you must have:
- A structural or civil engineering degree or equivalent
- Experience using Rhino and Grasshopper (ideally Revit and Dynamo)
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Expertise and interest in the advancement of computational design tools.
- Experience working in digital workflows would be advantageous.
