Murphy Utilities Ltd provide utility infrastructure services across the Yorkshire region working in partnership with a small number of companies whilst also undertaking private works on a smaller scale.
Established in 2011, the company has seen rapid growth in the past two years, expanding current contracts through consistent service delivery, which has led to expansion into new geographic areas. We are now recruiting for a Reinstatement Operative to join our team.

Reinstatement Operative.


Reports to:
Contract Delivery Manager


Rate of Pay:
Negotiable dependent on experience.


Hours of work:
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm.


Role Summary (Key Functions):

You will work as part of a small team reinstating trenches. Previous experience with block/slab work would be an advantage.

Your tasks will be undertaken on public highways, building sites and private residential land, and must be undertaken in a safe and responsible manner.


Typical Activities/Responsibilities will include:

  • Operate with a range of reinstatement materials and machinery, learning new techniques from training we provide.
  • Ensure materials are used economically and that unused materials are returned to stores.
  • Ensure all dig and fix works undertaken are safe and in line industry best practice.
  • Risk assessment.
  • Set up site and remove site. Chapter
  • Understand and comply with regulations including NRSWA.
  • Adhere to Streetworks regulations all times.
  • You may also be required to undertake standby duties in response to faults overnight and at weekends, as part of a rota.
  • Ability to work accurately and independently is essential and holding a high regard for safety, of both yourself and your surroundings at all times is imperative.
  • Whilst working on site ensure that the mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), boots, highviz orange trousers, or overalls, highviz vest or jacket, hard hat, safety glasses and gloves for identified tasks and substances is worn.
  • Loading materials onto vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A good understanding and experience of the Utility industry
  • Previous experience working on Civils related projects
  • NRSWA qualification preferred.
  • A full and clean driving license, HGV C1 entitlement preferable but not essential.
  • Awareness of health and safety
  • Computer literate and familiar with basic software packages.
  • Physically demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

Experience:

- tarmacing: 1 year (preferred)

- white-topping: 1 year (preferred)
