The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the perinatal pelvic health workstream. Perinatal Pelvic Health Services (PPHS) are part of the NHS Long Term Plan which outlines a commitment to improve access to postnatal physiotherapy to support women who may need it to recover from birth; and ensure that all women have access to multidisciplinary pelvic health clinics and pathways.

This key role will be autonomous but will work closely with frontline staff, in particular the LMNS Perineal Midwife and the LMNS Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. The post holder will apply the following essential elements of service improvement: Analysis, Innovation and motivation, measurement for improvement, change management, team working, communication and collaboration and operational awareness.

Job responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role are:

Build, manage and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships.

Organise, plan and execute a programme that spans a range of provider, commissioner and patient organisations.

Develop and manage the perinatal pelvic health project plan. This will be presented to the PPHS Delivery Group/Stakeholder Group, and other forums as required.

Support the development of metrics for measuring project success and monitoring progress to ensure delivery including working within any parameters outlined by NHSE.

Support the sharing of learning across Warwickshire, regionally and nationally as required including attendance at any NHSE Perinatal Pelvic Health forums.

Act as a champion for patients and their interests ensuring that patients are actively engaged, and their voice is at the heart of the development of the PPHS service model.

Knowledge skills and experience required:

Work with clinical and non-clinical teams, using diagnostic tools, to identify areas where improvements can be made and identify service improvement priorities.

Utilise service redesign methodologies including Lean and rapid improvement events, in all aspects of improvement work.

Integrate redesign methodologies into everyday working and ensure alignment of local and national initiatives.

Provide expert opinion and advice on issues relating to service improvement and change management.

Promote a safety culture within service improvement projects.

Ensure that patients views are included in redesigning services.

Collect, collate, interrogate and analyse data to provide evidence to justify and support decision making in service redesign and development.

Develop measurements to support sustainability and demonstrate outcomes and benefits from selected service improvement projects, in collaboration with colleagues in Finance, HR and clinical governance.

Develop information systems, in line with national innovation, in liaison with the Information department, to enable effective and efficient management of performance outcome measures.

Take the lead for selected service improvement projects, as required; ensuring service improvement is delivered using Improvement methodology to meet the agreed timescales.

Monitor selected project performance and take action as required to ensure project delivery; managing risks and developing contingencies.

Support project groups by coaching and facilitating discussions to encourage innovative thinking, identify options and develop methods to test new ways to deliver patient care.

Promote systematic cultural change and sustainability within selected projects of work to achieve SWFT values and goals.

Maintain working partnerships with other clinical change programmes to ensure that there is a cohesive approach across the health economy.

Support a programme of structured learning and development, delivered through the Service Improvement team, to increase capability and capacity of trust staff.

Support the development of change management capability and capacity.

To produce and present regular and ad hoc reports for both clinical and management teams across the health community.

Communications and Working Relationships:

Work in conjunction with the Head of Service Improvement to support Service Improvement initiatives and review procedures and policies as part of implementing service improvement.

Work with all levels of staff throughout the organisation to develop and deliver Improvement initiatives.
