Group Finance Director

MacGregor Black is delighted to partner with an FMCG business in their search for a Group Finance Director This is a permanent position based in Manchester.

We are seeking a Group Finance Director to be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company's strategy and operations within the beverage sector, ensuring the financial health of the organisation.

This role involves managing the finance team, driving financial planning, analysis, and reporting, and providing strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior leadership team. The Group Finance Director will also ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, optimise financial performance, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with business goals specific to the beverage sector.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and annual budgeting processes.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making in the beverage industry.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, treasury, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the board and senior management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with UK regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and risk management processes tailored to the beverage sector.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including tax, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as necessary.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track financial and operational performance.
  • Drive cost optimisation and efficiency improvements across the organisation.

Treasury and Cash Management:

  • Oversee treasury operations, including cash flow management, funding, and investment activities.
  • Optimise the company's capital structure and manage relationships with financial institutions.
  • Ensure effective liquidity management and financing strategies.

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Lead financial due diligence and integration for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and their financial impact on the business.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and expansion plans within the beverage sector.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary skills and capabilities to support the company's financial objectives.
  • Promote a collaborative working environment across the finance function.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior management and other departments to drive business performance.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategy to stakeholders, including the board, investors, and financial partners.
  • Represent the company in financial discussions and negotiations with external parties.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with extensive experience in a senior finance role.
  • Proven track record in financial leadership within the beverage industry or a related sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements in the UK.
  • Experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to provide strategic financial insights.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
