Opening the premises in preparation for surgeries. Ensuring adequate heating and ventilation for the comfort of all users.Check transfer of telephone services AM and PM
Accurate re-filing of medical records when removed from cabinet/archive
Opening incoming mail, from external and internal sources. Actioning where appropriate and allocating all mail to designated personnel.
Scanning / Filing letters and reports in patient medical records in line with practice protocols and quality incentive schemes
Maintenance of medical records.
Preparation of mail for posting
Answering general enquiries, and advising patients regarding surgery procedures, such as registration and prescription ordering
Operation of the practice computer appointments system, liasing with the practice manager to ensure patient access is maintained.
Organising clinic appointments.
Organising hospital appointments and arranging transport where necessary in line with guidelines.
Answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries and ensuring that requests for both routine and urgent visits are dealt with efficiently.
Printing out prescriptions using the computer database ensuring that prescriptions are signed and sorted in readiness for collection by the patient / pharmacy
Sorting medical records received from the Health Authority
Registering new patients completing all relevant paper work
Receiving and directing patients upon their arrival.
Ordering and distributing stationery to consulting rooms and treatment rooms.
Receiving laboratory specimens
Collecting fees where appropriate for work not covered by GMS, maintaining accurate records.
Photocopying of Medical Record Envelopes (MRE), when authorised to do so ensuring invoices are prepared and logged.
Responsibility for securing the premises after evening surgery ensuring doors and windows are locked and alarm set.
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
