Overview / Responsibilities:


Wood is recruiting for a Senior Subsea Designer to join its Specialist Engineering and Consulting team focusing on the generation of various detailed structural, piping, pipeline drawings and 2D / 3D CAD models as instructed by the Drawing Office Manager or the Lead Subsea Designer.

The role will be based in Aberdeen and hyrbrid working will be offered.

Typical responsibilities

  • Prepare 2D AutoCAD & 3D Inventor models, sketches, pipeline layouts, piping isometrics, structural arrangements & detailed engineering drawings
  • Selfchecking of all work prior to formal drafting and engineering checks
  • Liaise closely with responsible engineer to ensure correctness of design
  • Become familiar with and work to the company's Drawing Office standards
  • Ensure work is produced as neatly and accurately as possible and delivered by agreed dates within the drawing register or as requested by the Drawing Office Manager or Lead Designer;
  • Ensure all CAD files are stored in the appropriate project folders;
  • Ensure master drawing files are maintained and up to date;
  • Assist in the training and development of new designers;
  • Updating of drawing registers to reflect current status of deliverables;
  • In the absence of a Lead Designer, the Senior Designer should pick up the relevant lead responsibilities in conjunction with the Drawing Office Manager;
  • Ensure any changes that may have an effect on the project design, deliverables or schedule are brought to the attention of the designer responsible for the Project and Engineer/Project Manager

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (HNC/HND)
  • Experience within Subsea engineering and a minimum of 5 years Design Office experience
  • A sound understanding of CAD drafting, Autodesk systems, primarily AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
