The Negotiation Negotiator is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices.

Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family.

Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the firm's global derivatives business by providing essential negotiation and contract administration support for the firm's International Swap and Derivatives Association (ISDA) contracts (and associated key trading infrastructure documentation)
  • Responsible for all stages of the contract process from the initial drafting through execution
  • Ensures complex and high volume business negotiations be conducted in a timely, thorough and efficient manner
  • Supports Platinum clients and expected to provide additional services as well as maintain a standard workload of negotiations in a timely and organized manner
  • Consistently follows up with unresponsive customers, maintaining detailed records of the negotiations along with a committed effort to stay abreast of new and changing regulatory and legal issues and industry initiatives
  • Extensive interaction with the firm's institutional clients and their internal/external counsel as well as coordination with the firm's trading/sales, legal, credit and tax areas in order to contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements
  • Applies indepth understanding of how associated risks differ depending on product and documentation envisaged in relevant jurisdiction(s) and provides advice to the Risk function and business partners accordingly
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience
  • Comprehensive proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and exercise good and mature judgment
  • Excellent grasp of the relevant legal and credit concepts
  • Experience with complex corporate structures including hedge funds, structures involving third party lenders, Special Purpose Vehicles, mutual funds and the like
  • Ability to work independently and with limited direct supervision.
  • Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
