About the Trust


Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is one of only three dedicated children's hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care as well as acute and specialist services.

We provide a full range of services for residents of Sheffield and South Yorkshire as well as specialised services for patients from across the United Kingdom.

We are looking for a Cook for Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimal City & Guilds 706/1 or equivalent NVQ in food preparation.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (desired)
  • Cooking in Large Kitchen environments
  • GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualification
  • Computer literate
  • Awareness of the importance of confidentiality
  • To be physically fit for duties

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To ensure food services meet exacting required standards.
  • To be responsible for all catering requirements on the site.
  • To ensure yours and others training is up to date and current.
  • To meet delegated budgetary expectations.
  • To ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety in the kitchen.
  • To liaise with patients and relatives as required.
  • To liaise with outside agencies.
  • To liaise with the clinical food lead and dietitian concerning patient requirements
  • Maintain all due diligence process and records

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

The skills required are:

  • Ability to instruct staff and use initiative within the sphere of responsibility.
  • Being flexible and adaptable at work in order to meet competing priorities.
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a closeknit team
  • Self-Motivated
  • Literate and Numerate in English
  • Must understand COSHH regulations
  • Understanding of personal health and safety responsibilities
  • Understanding of infection control procedures and health and safety (desired)
  • Knowledge of Data Protection/confidentiality (desired)
  • Satisfactory Occupational Health check
  • Hold a Full driving licence
  • An understanding of equality within the workforce and how it can impact on this post.
