POSITION
The Derivative Operations Analyst is part of the InvesTech Operations department. The Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting the OTC settlement and post-execution lifecycle event process for all OTC derivative products. This will encompass exception-based management of the trade capture workflow, lifecycle event processing, multiple daily reconciliations, and new product implementation for all OTC derivative activity across a suite of applications. The Analyst will continually look for opportunities to create efficiencies within these tasks through workflow enhancements and technology. The Analyst will work closely with our brokers, vendors, service providers, client relationship teams, trading, and technology to ensure timely trade capture in multiple internal systems, processing of lifecycle events, responding to client inquiries, and troubleshooting critical issues. They will be involved in various projects by performing user acceptance testing and assisting with other implementation tasks. As part of a broader Derivatives Operations team, there will also be cross-team opportunities, including the potential to assist with margin, collateral, and clearing. Due to the complexity and manual nature of some functions, the Analyst will continually look for opportunities to create efficiencies in the processing, reporting and reconciliation of derivatives. While the Analyst will work in a team-oriented environment, many projects will be self-directed, often under intense deadline pressures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management of OTC derivative settlements by processing resets, unwinds, and other lifecycle events for all OTC derivative products
  • Management of outstanding trade and reconciliation breaks
  • Daily review of OTC trade communication to ensure that new trades and amendments are captured properly and subsequently communicated
  • Serve as an escalation point for resolution of trade communication and settlements queries raised by dealers, service providers, and client agents
  • Serve as a resource for internal teams handling OTC derivative-related queries and audit requests from clients and their agents
  • Processing exceptional events that impact OTC derivatives positions, including credit events, corporate actions, and client transitions.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and assist in implementing necessary changes
  • Be a steward of risk and control frameworks, always keeping work quality and accuracy in mind
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have familiarity with, or interest in, OTC derivatives
  • Experience with back and/or middle office operations
  • Be a self-starter and independent thinker
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and analysis
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills needed to work with the team and management
  • Be well organized, motivated, and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills, effective communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail
  • Have an undergraduate degree and strong academic record
  • 0-3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred
  • Technical proficiency, such as Excel (macros, etc.) and SQL preferred
Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? That's ok. If you believe that you could excel in this role, we encourage you to apply and welcome a chance to review your background. We are dedicated to building and maintaining a diversified workforce and considering a broad array of candidates with a variety of skill, workplace experiences, and backgrounds.
