Contract term: This is a permanent contract, 0.5 FTE, commencing in September 2024.
Pay: Competitive. We aim to attract the best and offer a comprehensive benefits package.

As the laboratory technician you will report to the senior laboratory technician. Under their guidance, you will co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities. You will provide advice and assistance in meeting the practical needs of the science curriculum, including liaising with the teaching staff and support staff outside of the department. You will also ensure the maintenance of a healthy & safe working environment through contributing to health & safety procedures, keeping up to date with best procedures and practices, providing technical advice and support to teaching staff, safe storage of equipment and materials and the safe treatment & disposal of used materials and chemicals.

The role includes setting up and testing the laboratory equipment and materials, and the maintenance of associated teaching resources in accordance with good laboratory practice. An excellent working knowledge of laboratory equipment is therefore essential.
