About us
Pike View Medical Centre is a medium sized friendly practice within Horwich, Bolton. We have a dedicated clinical and administration support team providing primary health care to over 8000 patients

We have two hour posts available. These posts are made up of 5 hours shifts. You may be required to work a full day ie 10 hours. The surgery opens at 8 am and closes at 6.30pm. Shifts are either 8am - 1pm, 1pm - 6pm or 1.30pm - 6.30pm

These posts are temporary for Maternity leave, however, could lead to a permanent position.

Job Role:
Arrive to open up promptly for start of surgery at 8am

  • Recalls patient for routine appointments, cytology, and blood test repeats as directed by clinical staff.
  • Ensures action taken as directed by clinicians for blood/urine sample results received in the surgery such as patient recall for repeats test or routine appointment. Chasing up results of tests not received promptly.
  • Greets patients on arrival for their appointments courteously
  • Takes repeat prescription requests in accordance with the Practice Repeat Prescribing policy ensuring patients have a mediation review in a timely manner.
  • Takes acute prescription requests
  • Receive and record requests for home visits making sure all the details are logged on the computer in the appropriate place including contact telephone number.
  • Answers general inquiries from existing and new patients explaining surgery procedures
  • Makes appointments for all healthcare professionals.
  • Receives samples for testing and ensures that the correct forms accompany these and that the forms have the official stamp applied and that personal details are correct.
  • Ensures any unresolved or urgent matters to be actioned by another colleague.
  • Provide holiday and sickness relief for colleagues in liaison with other staff members.
  • Ensures that the surgery premises are kept tidy during opening times
  • Any other reception or administrative duties that may be required at the discretion of the Office/Practice Manager

Job Types:

Part-time hours: 25 per week

Salary:
£10.18-£10.42 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to wear face masks in public areas of the building and when entering office/consult. Staff are protected by screens on front reception. All patients must wear a face mask within the building if not clinically exempt from doing so.
