Job Description:

The Postdoctoral Fellow position at the Santos Lab involves conducting cutting-edge research in Quantitative Stem Cell Biology at the Francis Crick Institute. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will explore cell decision-making processes, regulatory mechanisms, and the interplay between metabolism, cell cycle, and cell fate using mouse and human embryonic stem cells among other model systems.

The Research Group

Dr. Silvia Santos leads the lab with a strong emphasis on independent thinking, creativity, and fostering a collaborative environment. The lab provides exceptional training and mentorship opportunities.

The Project

The focus of this role includes understanding the relationship between cell division, cell identity, and human development using advanced techniques such as live cell imaging and sequencing. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the chance to propose and lead their own research projects.

Key Experience and Competencies

Essential:

  • PhD in Cell, Molecular, or Developmental Biology
  • Passion for Gene Regulation and fate decisions
  • Expertise in sequencing/OMICS approaches
  • Good knowledge of genome editing
  • Extensive cell culture experience
  • Proven track record of publications and scientific presentations
  • Exemplification of core Crick values: bold, open, collegial

Desirable:

  • Experience with microscopy and genome editing
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R
  • History of collaboration and mentorship
