Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is recruiting a Business Continuity and Emergency Response Lead.

We are entering an exciting phase within our new strategy at the forefront of energy security and are adding this role within our Operations business stream.

We have a great framework in place however we are looking for someone to come in and make continuous improvements.

The role will have plenty autonomy to make these changes however you will have an excellent support network of like minded people when needed.

This role will support the Operations BU to manage the business continuity and emergency response arrangements. This role is critical in providing a consistent approach across the region aligned with Wood Standards and Enterprise expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the UK emergency response and incident management arrangements
  • Take part in the IMT rota
  • Prepare, review, and implement procedures as required for the region
  • Assure arrangements against the Wood Crisis and Emergency Management Standard
  • Collaborate on support required for the wider EMEA region
  • Manage the emergency response software, administering any updates or changes as required
  • Ensure Incident Management Team (IMT) rota coverage is sufficient, with trained and competent personnel
  • Deliver or arrange IMT training as required, including wider roles which may be required e.g. relative response, family liaison, evacuation centre representatives etc
  • Develop and conduct emergency response exercises to test the IMT response. Linking in with ERT, CMT and BCT where appropriate
  • Prepare and share lessons learned and implement actions from exercise or live response learnings along with any other source
  • Act as liaison to support client led or duty holder simulated exercises including supporting client engagement to test Wood/Client interfaces
  • Interface with contracts to ensure emergency response structure is accurately reflected in emergency response regulatory documentation e.g. COMAH reports, safety cases etc.
  • Attend Industry body meeting for offshore emergency response preparedness
  • Manage the contract for first call response
  • Manage the support contract for remote assistance
  • Act as focal point for industry mutual aid arrangements
  • Manage the Aberdeen IMT suite and associated facilities, ensuring all peripheral equipment is in full working order ready to respond
  • Assigned as IMT/CMT and IMT/BCT interface in the event of a significant incident
  • Work with Business Sustainability and Assurance Function to suggest and support implementation on areas for improvement
  • Provide input to bids and tenders for business continuity and emergency response
  • Coordinate the creation and review of business continuity plans across the Operations EMEA business
  • Provide assurance that business continuity plans meet the Wood mandatory Business Continuity Standard
  • Develop and conduct business continuity desktop exercises

Skills / Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Experience in managing emergency response, crisis management, business continuity or business resilience arrangements is required
  • Energy Sector or other high hazard industry experience would be advantageous
  • Experience with COMAH and offshore safety case requirements would be advantageous
  • Ability to give training and coaching to the Incident Management team
  • Can demonstrate previous experience of writing realistic exercise scenarios
  • Knowledge and experience of giving effective feedback to elicit change
  • A formal qualification in HSE, Risk Management or Emergency Response would be beneficial but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of HSE appreciated but not mandatory

Personal Attributes

  • There is a requirement to be able to mobilise to Aberdeen within a reasonable timeframe to perform oncall response duties and general management of emergency arrangements
  • Ability to deliver training to personnel at all levels of the business
  • Ability to influence and communicate with key stakeholders in a respectful manner
  • Ability to write reports, evaluate exercises and provide feedback and manage improvement actions through to closure
  • Make decisions independently but that support line manager's overall intent
  • Work independently and remotely from line management
