About the role:

  • To act as an advocate for victims of domestic violence, ensuring their needs are at the forefront and representing the child's voice in households affected by domestic violence.
  • To lead in providing tailored interventions for high and medium risk victims, utilizing assessment tools to determine necessary support.
  • To mentor and empower Early Help Service teams to deliver domestic violence interventions as per the Early Help outcomes framework.
  • To offer specialized advice, guidance, and training to staff from various organizations within the Community Safety and Cohesion Partnership.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To adapt support for high and medium risk victims based on individual needs.
  • To provide proactive practical support for high-risk victims.
  • To guide high-risk victims through the necessary processes and advocate on their behalf.
  • To collaborate with the police for visits to victims and promote engagement with services.
  • To engage with families to ensure safety and develop customized service plans.
  • To provide information on legal options and support victims through the justice systems.
  • To advocate for victims to receive entitled services and build their support network.
  • To set achievable outcomes using assessment tools and manage risks.
  • To challenge behaviors hindering independence.
  • To understand child protection laws and deliver support programs.
  • To provide advice and support to agencies working with potential domestic abuse cases.
  • To attend relevant meetings in high-risk cases.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Preferably Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) qualified.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of domestic abuse and its effects.
  • Understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for domestic abuse victims.
  • Must have an Enhanced DBS check.
