Job Description Summary

Ready for a new and exciting career opportunity reporting directly into the UK Naval Quality Leader, collaborating with a strong and diverse project team engaged in solving exciting challenges within our Naval Projects portfolio.

This role will require both hands on and office-based engagement, with duties that vary month to month, dependent on the status of the projects, customer interaction and issue resolution.

This role is based at our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility, where travel to our supply chain and other locations can be expected.

The Naval Project Quality Engineer, supporting New Build, Spares & Services, has the responsibility for ensuring that quality requirements (in terms of inspection notification, execution, documentation collection, management of non-conformance reports etc.) are adhered to and meet contractual obligations.

His / her key internal stakeholders will be from Project Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality and Sourcing teams.

In this role you will review and capture contractual quality requirements, ensuring that these are understood and delivered against during execution.

You will be the quality focal point for both the Customer and the Naval Project team.

As a Naval Project Quality Engineer, you must be self-motivated, have superb attention to detail and be able to organize workload with minimal supervision.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Ensure close collaboration within the horizontal Naval Project team (Project Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Tendering, internal partners and external supply chain, workshops etc.), providing expertise and guidance as required.

Support supplier risk assessment activities and the definition of project specific Quality Control Plans.
Quality interface to customer and internal partners, participate in customer / Project Quality meetings.

Management of customer witness point schedule, communicate inspection notifications to the customer and participate in witness inspection activities as required.

Non-conformance Report (NCR) management, both internal and external, NCR and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) follow-up with systemic deep dive, as required, driven by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Management and follow-up for closure resolution on customer related non-conformities / Inquiry Forms (IFs).

Management of On Time Deliver (OTD) for documentation packs with customer, perform weekly engagement & report out KPI data.

Manage the of preparation the final End of Manufacture Report (EoMR) documentation for submittal to customer, as per the respective QCPs and / or contractual requirements.

Performs Internal Audits within the project Scope & capture audit outputs in the appropriate tools (Gensuite, SSP etc.).
Seek, share and institutionalize best practices and lessons learned across the project, supporting the Return on Experience process.

Interface and liaise with the Customer for any Project Quality issues and coordinate relevant action plans within the Project.

Improve Customer Satisfaction and supports reduction of Cost of Quality through the application of Lean tools.

Required Qualifications:
~ Formal technical and / or quality qualification or practical manufacturing experience.
~ Experience in Steam Turbine and / or Generator Business.
~ Experience in a combination of Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain environments.
~8D problem resolution, FMEA and other related quality methodologies.

In this role he / she will be working on Naval Projects which requires the successful individual to hold the relevant UK Security Clearance.

We will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not have it.

Due to the nature of the work an individual is required to be a UK National or a Dual National from a on ITAR country (as approved by the MOD).
