The School of Engineering at Newcastle University are seeking to appoint an experienced researcher to join a team of dedicated engineers on The Clean Tyne Shipping Corridor project funded under the Maritime Demonstration Competition.

Our consortium includes Arup, Connected Places Catapult, EDF Energy R&D UK, Lloyd's Register and the North East LEP and this group of specialists aims to support the zero-emission shipping mission and Government's Clean Maritime Plan by undertaking a feasibility study to establish a green shipping corridor from the UK north-east shore with the vision to join up with the European Green Corridors Network.

The outcomes of the project will be used as the blueprint to drive rapid diffusion and mobilise demand for green shipping.

As a Research Assistant/Associate, you will be a central member of the team, focusing on research, undertake gap analysis for zero-emission energy sources, vessel design, landside infrastructure, energy management, regulation and policy.

You should hold a PhD (or nearing completion), or have comparable industrial experience, in a field relevant to Maritime Engineering.

Additionally, evidence of successfully working in diverse consortia is highly desirable.

We are committed to building and maintaining a fair and inclusive working environment and we would be happy to discuss arrangements for flexible and/or blended working.
