Aberdeen, Aberdeen City, United Kingdom DNV Full time

Local Unit & Position Description:
Here at DNV, what we do matters.

Whether it's helping the Energy Industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference.

This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

Our Opportunity:

As a Graduate Technical Safety Consultant, you'll join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding innovative solutions to the industry's most challenging problems.

You'll be given real responsibility from day one, working alongside some of the world's leading technical experts, on a variety of offshore client projects, immediately developing your skills, knowledge and understanding of the Energy industry, as you progress your career with us, including:

  • Learning how major hazards, their likelihood and consequences are managed; understanding the importance of reliability of safeguards; and how to make balanced riskbased arguments for safe operations.
  • The opportunity to actively engage with clients to understand their challenges as they seek to make the offshore industry safer and more sustainable.
  • Absorb information from experts in customer workshops to understand the industry, the terminology and how different engineering disciplines contribute to safety.
  • Potential for occasional offshore trips to see how our deskbased work affects operations in the real world.

You'll be stretched but always supported, so don't worry if the offshore industry or terminology above is unfamiliar to you, we will teach you all you need to know.

Upon joining, you'll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues as you develop your technical, project management and customer interaction skills and work towards chartership.

Based from our Aberdeen offices, our structured Graduate Programme therefore, provides a fantastic start to your career with us, enhancing both your technical and professional skills and supporting your journey to become an expert in your chosen field.

Position Qualifications:

What will you bring?

As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don't expect any prior experience of technical safety, engineering or the Energy industry when you join us; However, we do want you to share our passion for these and demonstrate your desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.

We try to keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Process Safety, Physics, Mathematics or Risk and Reliability.
  • Available to commence with us by September 202
  • Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally including the commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (Chartership)
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problemsolving skills (experience in Excel or mathematical modelling/programming background will be beneficial, although not essential) demonstrating the ability to produce technical reports detailing clear outcomes of the analysis for customers
  • Proactive willingness to learn new skills displaying a willingness to "get stuck in" and undertake work outside 'comfort zone' demonstrating appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / think through the problem
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and demonstrates first class written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities, to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives

If you possess the curiosity and initiative to become an expert in your chosen field and potentially one of our future leaders, then our graduate roles could be for you.

What you'll receive in return:

We value all our people and the contributions they make to our business, so it's important that our rewards make us all feel valued here.

That's why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package, allowing you to choose the things that matter most to you, including;
