Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom NavLive Limited Full time
NavLive is a spin-out from the University of Oxford, backed by award-winning technology and algorithms. We are developing real-time spatial AI solutions for the construction and geospatial industries.

We use real-time multi-sensor fusion and high-precision positioning technology to build 3D models of indoor and outdoor environments in real-time.

Our tech can infer what has changed and provide insights to facility owners or site decision-makers.

We want to recruit a hardware design engineer to help us develop our products and execute R&D projects with partners in the above-mentioned sectors.

Are you interested in joining a rapidly growing start-up to develop advanced technology which will revolutionise how companies monitor their assets, make decisions and measure the real world?
Your role as a Hardware Design Engineer will involve:
Using your expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) software to create innovative designs for handheld and robotic sensor and mapping systems
Ensuring cost-effective low-volume production by employing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
Produce assembly drawings and detail drawings specifying materials, tolerances and assembly notes for outsourcing
Testing of prototypes with customers, including on-site
Setup and test sensor drivers, calibration, and comms using a linux operating system.
Expertise working with CAD software (i.e. SolidWorks, Fusion360, NX), and a portfolio of previous design projects
Experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing for rapid prototyping
Professional experience programming with C++, Python.
Solid understanding of DFM and DFA principles, with the ability to design for efficient manufacturing and assembly
Familiarity with electronic systems and circuit design—including analog and digital circuits, microcontrollers, and sensors
Experience with robustness testing, knowledge of design validation techniques, including accelerated life testing and environmental testing, to ensure the product's reliability in various operating conditions
Experience with linux, camera calibration routines, and sensor communication methods (ethernet, UART, RS232).
25 days of paid annual leave plus bank holidays
~ Salary pension exchange scheme
~ On-the-job training in cutting-edge robotics and AI
~ Full support for relocation costs including visa sponsorship, as required
~ Annual performance and salary review
~ While this role will require some on-site and in-person time, much of what we do is structured for hybrid work. Diversity and Inclusion
We embrace individuality and aim to offer the flexibility demanded by the modern digital workforce.
Connecting physical to digital.
