The Hub is a Yeovil charity with a vision that adults with learning disabilities and autism enjoy equal access to leisure, learning and employment, leading fulfilling lives where they can achieve their goals, be part of the community and realise their true potential.


We are growing our 1-1 Support offer to ensure that the transition to and ongoing experience at the Hub meets the highest possible standards.

The main part of the role will be to provide 1-1 support to individuals who require it due to either the complexities of their learning disability or medical requirements or they are new to the Hub and are being assisted in their transition.

The 1-1 Supports ensure their trainee receives a positive, enjoyable, and meaningful experience at the Hub by supporting with skills for life and helping them reach their full potential whilst maintaining their safety.

Sometimes there may be a requirement for personal care.

There may be opportunities to work the occasional additional hours, agreed in advance.

  • To support an individual trainee through every aspect of their attendance at the Hub.
  • To support, facilitate and ensure the trainees experience is meaningful and impactful in line with their goals and personal development.
  • To ensure the trainee can work to their best ability, challenging them appropriately when required to do so, to promote their learning and their acquisition of new skills.
  • To ensure trainee's needs are met at all times; mobility support, first aid, personal care, monitoring eating. etc
  • To provide daily feedback to parents/guardians
  • To work as part of a team that is always open, honest and supportive of each other.
  • Practical knowledge of young people and adults with learning disabilities
  • Previous experience of providing 11 support
  • Previous First Aid Training (we will provide up to date training if required)
  • Previous Epilepsy Training (we will provide up to date training if required)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and people skills with the ability to motivate trainees and help them flourish
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • To be resilient and able to deal with situations that can, from timetotime, be challenging
  • Ability to reflect and strive to improve the way you work and to develop your skills.
  • IT skills as there will be the potential to work with our Wellbeing Coordinator on policies and processes
  • It would be an advantage to be able to do sign language, but not essential
  • Full driving licence preferred

You can expect from the Hub

  • Induction and training.

We will provide you with:

  • To ensure complete familiarity with our safeguarding policy and practices.

We expect you:

  • To perform your role to the best of your ability;
  • To follow the charity's policies & procedures and standards, including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Equality and Diversity, in relation to its staff, trainees, volunteers and customers.
  • To maintain the confidential information of the charity and its users at all times and not disclose this information except where required to do so by law or by instruction of senior management.
  • To be aware of the importance of safeguarding policies and procedures and to always discuss with a colleague any safeguarding concerns.
  • To offer First Aid if trained and personal care if required to do so.
37.5 Hours per week Monday to Friday (8.30am to 4.30pm with 30 minute unpaid lunch)

Pay:
£23,400.00 per year
