Billingbear Park Golf Course is a family run facility based in the Reading area. The Course covers 100 acres of land and was originally built in the Victorian Era and used as farmland during the first world war turning back into a golf course in 1989. In the early 1990s Martin Hawtree worked on the design of the present 'OLD COURSE'.
It has 2 courses - the New course being a Par 3 challenging 1268 yards.
Many holes involve water and then the Old Course which is a 9-hole park land course measuring 5850yds for 18 holes Par 69 off the white tees and 5085 par 71 off red tees.
Billingbear is a pay and play course which the owners and the greenkeeping staff take great pride in.The intent and ambition is to take the course forward, progressing to the highest standard possible in a sustainable manner.
This is an excellent time to join a small dynamic team which has all the modern equipment required to run a very efficient golf set up and deliver the highest standards possible.
Possessing experience in the use of greenkeeping machinery and current up to date knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures will set you ahead of the field of applicants.
Also required is a flexible approach to working hours, the ability to work a rota on weekends, a positive 'Can Do' attitude and a keen eye for detail.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES
- Maintain greens, fairways, tees, rough, trees, etc.
- Ensure even wear and tear on tees and most affected traffic areas
- Mowing greens, tees, fairways, rough, surrounds and approaches
- Rake bunkers, move markers/course set up, changing holes
- Routine machine maintenance, maintain trees, safe use of tractor and attachment
- Carry out pre checks on machinery before use, wash off and maintain at end of the day
- Repair divots/pitch marks
- Irrigate turf as and when required
- Identify disease and disorder in turf
- Top dress greens, spraying etc.
- Must have a keen eye for detail
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- 3 year experience working on golf courses preferred
- Level 2 Sports Turf (Greenkeeping) preferred but not essential
- Driving License
- CS30 & 31 desirable but not essential
- PA1,2 & 6 desirable but no essential
- Must have a positive attitude and excellent work ethic
- Must maintain all Health and Safety standards
- Must have an open mind on the use of environmentally friendly treatments for the greens
- Have excellent time management
- Work in a courteous and professional manner showing a happy and helpful approach to members and visitors alike
- Must have flexibility within the working week to carry out overtime as and when required, early morning or later night working
