Role

You will provide technical expertise and scientific support to the ongoing research, working in a team to achieve the research programme's goals using a broad range of molecular biology methods and procedures. These include sampling and processing of plant material for various downstream applications, DNA and RNA extractions, genotyping techniques, transient and stable plant transformation and plant tissue culture work, as well as implementation of new methods and techniques, where applicable. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring the growth of experimental plants and carrying out genetic crosses.

The research programme is heavily dependent on accurate recording and tracking of information on thousands of plants and associated samples. You will maintain records and ensure that all data and records are correctly uploaded into our Laboratory Information Management System. You will also assist in the general running of the Graham lab.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent in Biology or equivalent experience Theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience of carrying out relevant technical activities Well-organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to perform practical tasks to a consistently high standard with attention to detail, helping colleagues as required to ensure tasks are completed on time Previous experience in plant research would be advantageous
