Deputy Lead Social Worker at Thornford Park, Thatcham

- Managing and supporting a caseload of up to 24 forensic service users in a medium to low secure Forensic Mental Health Services
- Conducting assessments, compiling CPA reports, participating in Mental Health Tribunals, Managers Hearings, and supervising junior staff members
- Leading and promoting adult safeguarding, empowering recovery, and encouraging service users to actively engage in their care plans to achieve their objectives
- Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, with regional support and access to various training and online courses for your professional growth
As a Deputy Lead Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the social work team in taking the lead on child and adult safeguarding
- Deputising for the Lead social worker in quality assurance meetings
- Delivering Safeguarding induction and update training across the Hospital
- Leading the multidisciplinary teams on non-medical mental capacity issues and best interest decisions
- Providing quality supervision and appraisal to junior and senior social workers in the Team
In addition, you will collaborate with external agencies to ensure fulfilment of their statutory duties and offer support to carers and families of detained patients.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Social Work qualification
- Registration with Social Work England
- A good working knowledge of the relevant legislation

Thornford Park is a 130-bed independent hospital providing support to service users requiring medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services, as well as a PICU Mental Health Service. The facility offers an internal care pathway dedicated to supporting individuals in their recovery and rehabilitation journeys.
At Thornford Park, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised assessment and treatment programmes for individuals with mental illness/complex care needs, personality disorders, and those in the PICU service.
