The Larder Coordinator will:
oversee the day-to-day operation of two affordable food larders in Glasgow Southside. They will ensure the provision of affordable, high-quality food to local residents.

Operating within the Good Food Scotland Larder Network, which is part of the Feeding Britain charity, the Coordinator will work closely with the Good Food Scotland Development Manager and the Feeding Britain team.


They will create and sustain a friendly, welcoming and dignified environment and offer wider support for members, including working with local services as required.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage cash responsibilities, including cashing up, recording sales figures, and supervising cash handling.
  • Plan and monitor larder stock to provide a wide range of quality food attractively displayed.
  • Establish and maintain a diverse and sustainable food supply for the larders, utilising local retail and wholesale options, surplus, and donated stock.
  • Receive, unpack, and arrange shipments from suppliers and vendors, including shopping in stores and transporting goods to the larders.
  • Recruit and oversee volunteers for the larders, providing induction, training, and ongoing support.
  • Ensure all larder staff and volunteers feel valued, supported, and have opportunities for development.
  • Raise awareness of the Larders and develop relationships with relevant organisations and food suppliers.

Other duties

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, maintaining records and meeting standards.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards and adhere to opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide regular reports to the Good Food Scotland team, including sales, operational summaries, staffing, and business development ideas.
  • Uphold the ethos and values of Good Food Scotland in all operational decisions.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Commitment to the aims and objectives of the larders.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a retail setting, preferably related to food.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • High standards of customer service.
  • Experience working with volunteers and vulnerable individuals.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • IT literacy and numeracy skills.

Ideal

  • Community development or thirdsector experience.
  • Awareness of local support services.
  • Experience in stock ordering and management.
  • Resilience and problemsolving skills.
  • Innovative and forwardthinking.
  • Volunteer management or supervision experience.

Job Types:
