If yes, we are offering an opportunity for you to do both and would welcome your application to join us & develop as a Specialist Dietitian within these clinical areas. The post holder will be required to work within the James Cook University Hospital, and must have HCPC registration.

The post holder will be a key member of the gastroenterology, surgical & critical care teams, providing a specialist dietetic service to both inpatients and outpatients. Medical specialities include liver disease, hepato-pancreato-biliary conditions, inflammatory bowel disease, as well as general gastroenterology inpatients. Surgical specialities include colorectal surgery, upper GI and lower GI, urology and gynaecology. On critical care you will see a variety of patients including major trauma, brain injuries, post-surgical patients, respiratory conditions & post-cardiothoracic surgical patients. The successful candidate will support patients with a wide range of conditions requiring all forms of nutrition support, including parenteral nutrition and home enteral tube feeding, and will become a key member of the trust nutrition team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be given regular supervision and support from experienced dietitians and will also be involved in providing education to other health care professionals and support workers.

Continued professional development is actively encouraged, as is participation in audit, evidence-based practice & research. We provide training for student dietitians, and the post offers opportunities to be involved in student training. The post-holder will also be responsible for the clinical supervision and development of junior staff and dietetic assistants on a daily basis
