We are looking for a vibrant pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join our pharmacy and clinical teams in BaNES. While previous mental health experience is advantageous, we offer specialized training and induction programs for pharmacists transitioning from other sectors. This role is ideal for pharmacists seeking to enhance their mental health clinical skills and move away from acute Trust, ICB, or PCN settings.

As a Clinical Pharmacist at AWP, you will collaborate with healthcare professionals at Hillview Lodge, situated on the Royal United Hospital site. Your responsibilities will include working with nurses, doctors, AHPs, and primary care colleagues in inpatient and community teams. Your focus will be on teamwork, aiding the Locality Lead Pharmacist in enhancing the clinical pharmacy service in BaNES to ensure improved outcomes for our patients.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide a clinical pharmacy service to inpatient wards and community teams in BaNES
  • Offer specialist pharmaceutical expertise to MDTs and respond to medicines information inquiries
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and ward rounds
  • Contribute to the education and training of staff on medication-related issues
  • Advise service users and carers on medications
  • Engage in audits and projects to enhance the pharmacy service

About the role:

Your responsibilities include providing, monitoring, and supporting the development of clinical pharmacy services to inpatient and community mental health teams in conjunction with the Locality Lead Pharmacist(s). You will ensure safe and evidence-based medication use, offer pharmaceutical expertise to multidisciplinary teams, maintain efficient medicines supply chains, and contribute to staff education and training on medication-related matters.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized British School of Pharmacy
  • Registered Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post-graduate qualification in clinical or mental health pharmacy or willingness to pursue this qualification

Desirable:

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacists
  • Post-graduate qualification in mental health pharmacy
  • Non-medical prescriber qualification

Experience:

Essential:

  • Substantial UK hospital pharmacy experience
  • Knowledge of pharmacological treatment options for various mental health conditions and their adverse effects

Desirable:

  • Proficient in creating guidelines and reports
  • Experience in collaborating with primary care organizations
  • Background in education and training provision
  • Knowledge of HR and managerial practices
