With a growing and diversifying cargo business operating from state-of-the-art facilities, a brand-new marina which is a major feature of the exciting waterfront development, and opportunities for further expansion in the future, Dover's proud history dating back 400 years has a new modern twist.
Job Summary
To support our highly busy operation, we are looking for 4 x Seasonal Port Operatives who can deliver exceptional customer service to our passengers during their port journey.
The positions are temporary and will predominately be working Thursday Monday and will commence from 11th July 26th August 2024.
The job role is a 36hrs contract, and shifts will be allocated based on operational requirements and will be a working combination of day and -night shifts that may last up to 12 hours.
You may also be required to work in our Cruise business to support their seasonal demand, in roles such as baggage handling and traffic management.
Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Acting as the first point of contact for our customers, providing them with information and support during their port journey
- Traffic marshalling, directing freight and tourist vehicles to designated lanes
- Assisting with passenger welfare and ensuring passenger safety
- Handling baggage, lifting luggage and helping passengers to and from their vehicles
- Installing, maintaining, and dismantling temporary traffic management systems, including the deployment of cones, signage, and other necessary equipment.
- Performing general port operative tasks as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a customerfacing role
- Proficient in delivering empathetic customer service, even in challenging circumstances
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and regular weekends
- Physically fit and capable of standing and walking for extended periods
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be aged over 18 years (due to working nights)
You must be available on Tuesday 2nd July for traffic training and Monday 8th July for our corporate induction
