The Role:


We have the ambition to be an exemplar in our market with respect to the leadership we provide on Environment, Social and Governance issues, both within the company and for our clients.

Working towards that ambition, we are developing an ESG strategy for the period to 2026, and we are seeking a high calibre Head of Environmental and Sustainability to own the "Environment aspect of the 2026 ESG strategy, establishing the business level ambition and objectives and corresponding implementation plans to achieve a step-change in the Environmental culture, capability, and performance of the business.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the Environment and Sustainability (E&S) strategy for the business, with an initial focus on net zero, resource efficiency and natural capital
  • Advise on the appropriate accreditations to gain that will benefit the business in the sectors in which it operates and lead the work required to gain those accreditations
  • Work to ensure Avove performs strongly when assessed by ESG rating agencies
  • Work closely with the communications lead to develop an engagement plan within the business that wins hearts and minds and drives the necessary actions across the business, both for corporate purposes and also to align with the aspirations of our clients
  • Support Work Winning activities by being the E&S lead for bidding teams to incorporate Avove's ESG strategy and approach to managing E&S into bid submissions, ensuring alignment with client's objectives
  • Seek out innovative solutions within the industry that align with our Environment and Net Zero policies

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in setting and developing Environmental strategy
  • Has implemented a net zero plan across a similar type of business
  • Experience with ESG/sustainability reporting standards, frameworks, and ratings.
  • Fantastic relationship building and influencing skills
  • Experience in a similar role
