Job summary

This is a full time Junior Clinical Fellow ST1/ST2 post in Palliative Medicine based at the MacMillan Palliative Care Unit, Northern General Hospital Sheffield.

The post is due to commence on 7th August th February 2025.

Full registration with the GMC with a Licence to Practice is required.

If the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST1/ST2 level in Palliative Medicine.

Main duties of the job

This is a Junior Clinical Fellow ST1/ST2 equivalent post. 40 hours per week, working a shift Pattern of 1 in 3 weekends (9am to 5pm) and a week of late shifts (until , with no night shifts.

Job responsibilities

Duties will primarily be concerned with the day-to-day management of patients on the Palliative Care Unit. This includes:

attendance of the daily morning handover meetings and late afternoon ward huddles admission of patients to the ward and development of management plans with support and guidance from senior medical staff daily assessments of patients, including attendance at the daily (Mon-Fri) consultants ward rounds attendance at and contribution to the weekly multi-disciplinary meetings meetings with families and/or those important to the patients, where indicated completion of necessary documentation to ensure that kept up to date working closely with colleagues on the ward to provide safe and holistic patient care handover to other healthcare professionals involved in the care of the patients . Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise Basic Medical Degree F2 Sign Off or Equivalent ALS

Clinical NHS Experience Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems Ability to prioritise clinical need Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk Recognition of and ability to undertake the initial management of an acutely ill patient Successful completion of foundation years training or equivalent
