We are recruiting for a Managing Associate to join our client's Projects, Infrastructure & Construction (PIC) team. This role is a full-time, permanent opportunity, and will further strengthen our client's existing PIC team that operates on a national basis.

The Projects, Infrastructure and Construction team has enjoyed significant growth and investment. Nationally, the PIC team has expertise across a range of sectors including Energy, Infrastructure, Real Estate, and PFI/the Public Sector and undertakes both contentious and non-contentious Construction and projects related work. PIC sits within the Commercial Services Group of our client and acts for private and public sector clients across the UK and further afield.

Role:

As a senior contentious construction specialist, you will contribute to our client's knowledge and expertise within Projects, Infrastructure, and Construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work for high-calibre clients on complex contractual issues and 'lead' on such matters where appropriate.
  • Represent clients in adjudication, arbitration, and Technology and Construction Court proceedings.
  • Work with clients and their professional teams, providing legal advice on live projects.
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients of our client.
  • Develop your skills, knowledge, and construction law expertise.
  • Contribute to team strategic planning and business development activities.
  • Support the supervision and development of junior fee earners across the team.
  • Play a real part in the further development of our client's national PIC team and assist the organisation in achieving its long-term business aspirations.

Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered), already operating at Senior Associate or Legal Director/Managing Associate level within a highly regarded Projects/Construction team.
  • Experience and knowledge of complex Construction Law matters involving issues such as delay and disruption, defects, payment, and building safety defects.
  • Prior experience in providing strategic advice to clients looking to avoid and/or manage disputes.
  • Experience of supervising and collaborating with more junior colleagues on large scale cases.
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills. You will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Commercially aware, with exposure to business development. You will have the ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships.
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of your clients' business needs and act in the best interest of our client and the client.
  • Eager to contribute to our inclusive and collaborative culture. You will have an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members.

Team:

Our client's Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team has extensive experience in transactional aspects of construction, engineering, energy, and infrastructure projects, as well as expertise in dispute management and resolution in these areas. They have a significant record of advising UK infrastructure projects, particularly in the clean energy and transport sectors, including high-value complex disputes.

They work with corporate clients of all sizes, including complex engineering service providers, vessel designers, global manufacturers and retailers, major national and regional builders, and commercial land developers. Our client also works with registered housing associations and public bodies, including local authorities, police forces, and other governmental departments and agencies.
