The Deputy Matron will assist the Adult Acute Inpatient Matron/Operational Manager to oversee and deliver the Matrons Agenda across the Adult Acute Inpatient Service as follows:

  • in the development and delivery of strategies to improve practice and standards in relation to a range of agendas linked to cleanliness standards, patient environments and infection prevention and management across Meadowbrook.
- support service user and carer experience, feedback, involvement and engagement across the Meadowbrook.

  • Support the development of a volunteering and peer mentor culture across Meadowbrook Unit.
  • Lead on the Physical Healthcare agenda including the completion of PHITs, physical health interventions and the delivery of training.
  • Support with implementing the Smoke Free Agenda.
  • Support the Local Responsible person for fire with compliance with Fire Safety policy and procedures.
  • Support with delivery of Best Care Everyday in line with Inpatient SOP.


The post holder will have a specific focus on ensuring that service users and their carers receive care in high quality, safe environments at all times and will support the development and implementation of a range of strategies to support and underpin this goal.

They will support the agenda for service user and carer involvement, engagement and volunteering, ensuring that key performance indicators such as quality targets, CQUINS and our service user and carer strategy requirements are both developed and implemented


The post holder will work collaboratively with other Service Managers, colleagues and with service users and carers to ensure they are involved in the work of the Services and future service development.

The role contributes to the Trust objectives by providing services to:

The post holder will be visible and accessible to staff, patients and their carers.

Acting as a role model the post holder will support the Matron to be a champion for change and provide assistance, advice and support to teams and individuals ensuring that the fundamentals of care are delivered to the highest standard within the sphere of their responsibility and the service user remains central to all that we do, promoting the Trust Values and Behaviours.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate excellent management and communication skills.

Working as a member of the Salford division, the post holder will facilitate and support clinical / quality governance, service development and service improvement activities ensuring effective utilisation of resources within their sphere of responsibility.

  • To maintain high standards of quality in corporate and clinical record keeping ensuring information is always recorded accurately, appropriately and kept up to date.
  • Ensure arrangements are in place to support the provision of highquality care environments and high standards of cleanliness across Meadowbrook to reduce the potential for Hospital Acquired Infections in accordance with the HCAI Framework.
  • Ensure arrangements to support service user and carer involvement, engagement, feedback and volunteering are in place across the Adult Inpatient service in accordance with agreed standards / requirements.
  • Ensure that key performance indicators such as PLACE, infection prevention standards, Triangle of Care, CQUINS, KPIs, are developed, implemented and achieved, etc in relation to key workstreams.
  • To actively promote and facilitate Clinical / Quality Governance relating to clinical benchmarking activities, audit, service user feedback and customer care across the
