An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent Police and Essex Police Serious Crime Directorate Forensic Services as a Fingerprint Examiner.

This role is based at Essex Police Headquarters, Chelmsford.


In this role you will analyse, search and compare fingerprint in all case types, maximizing identifications and supplying expert advice in order to support the investigation and detection of crime.

You will be required to utilise automated and manual methods of searching and comparison, adhering to local and national procedures.


You will produce streamlined forensic reports and fingerprint evidence providing specialist interpretation and opinion and will be expected to provide fingerprint evidence in Court when required.


At shortlisting we will be looking for evidence of:
Essential

Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail

Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

Communication and Report Writing Skills

Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent

Desirable

Completion of Foundation, intermediate or Advanced level Fingerprint comparison course or equivalent

Experience of working to a standard operating procedure

Experience working in an ISO17025 accredited environment

Location and Hours:
Essex Police HQ, Chelmsford, Essex - a 20 minute walk from the City centre and train station.

There is limited parking on a first come basis on site, along with a rest area and nearby local shops.

The Fingerprint Hub work a fixed shift pattern providing a service from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday.

Successful applicants for this role will be defined as an; Static Worker - Works solely from one office within an office-based team.

Some travel may be required to other police sites to discharge duty.
