We are seeking to recruit a Band 8a Occupational Therapy Professional Lead to join our fantastic multi-disciplinary teams within the hospital to provide assessment, risk management, care and treatment to aid recovery and further the patient journey.

As Occupational Therapy Professional Lead, you will:
Be a highly specialist Occupational Therapist with significant clinical and professional experienceProvide leadership and management for the OT service at WathwoodProvide an in-depth understanding of OT impact across multiple clinical care streams within a team or care unitBe responsible for oversight of professional and strategic planning to utilise resources as appropriate

Education
Ensure staff have appropriate skills, training, supervision and equipment to safely carry out their roles and escalate where this is not the caseEnsure the professional growth and skills through reflective practice, PAD process, appropriate supervision processes, CPD and wider training and Identifies training, resource and development needs.Responsible for the professional development, supervision and mentoring of registered and non-registered AHP workforce - including opportunities for rotation and apprenticeshipsDevelops induction and/or preceptorship of staffFacilitate and evaluate robust and professional student placements, working collaboratively with the HEIs and Trust AHP Practice Learning and Education FacilitatorProvides advice and support as part of HEI revalidation of pre-registration trainingPlans, delivers and evaluates learning and development to others, both within uni-professional context and across other professions as appropriateEnsures ongoing advice, consultation and education for commissioners, Primary care and other agencies about the role of Occupational Therapy.Contribute to work of Professional body supporting guidance, body of evidence and examples Person Specification Qualifications Essential
- Member of professional body as appropriate
- Recognised professional Occupational therapy qualification
- Registered with HCPC
- Member of RCOT special interest group
- Evidence of relevant post-registration specialist professional knowledge and experience acquired through recognised academic study, practical clinical education, or attendance at relevant specialist courses.
- Leadership qualification
- Evidence of service development and resource management
- Recent experience of developing and managing an Occupational Therapy Service
- Extensive Post Graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist in mental health.
- Evidence of appraising and developing staff
- Evidence of effective staff and trainee supervision
- Evidence of effective liaison with other agencies, services and professional colleagues
- Evidence of recruitment and retention of staff
- Experience of undertaking clinical audit
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Evidence of producing reports
- Evidence of independently undertaking evidence-based practice
- Basic IT skills
- Experience working in forensics
- Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
- Detailed knowledge of current legislation and initiatives relating to specialism and profession
- Knowledge of clinical evidence base and relevant literature for profession
- Knowledge of theories and models applicable to professional clinical practice
- A wide knowledge of treatment approaches
- Working knowledge of patient focussed approaches
- Working knowledge of Clinical Governance
- Ability to prioritise and time manage the pressures of managerial, professional and clinical responsibilities.
- Established problem solving and negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively professionally supervise registered therapists, support staff and trainees.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a leadership role and ensure that teams work effectively including management of conflict.
