Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Apprenticeship
RWE Renewables are offering the opportunity for motivated people to begin a career in renewable energy with us.

This excellent 2 year apprentice scheme where learning will be a combination of 20% college programme learning with some travel to North Lincolnshire College in Scunthorpe and 80% workplace on the job learning, mostly at our site in Grimsby to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of a HSE Technician within the Offshore Wind Sector.


MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB


We will provide a comprehensive and well supported learning programme with a mixture of distance and classroom based learning and experience on site working with all departments including logistics, engineering, technicians, management and HSE departments.

Completing this apprenticeship will result in them achieving Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Technician status and a Level 3 Safety Health and Environment Technician NVQ


You will be working as part of a small team who are the conscience of the business and will need to build strong working relationships to enable you to support offshore operations teams to ensure there is visible HSE leadership and commitment from within the teams, to develop and promote an excellent HSE culture.


Your hard work will help us to deliver continual improvement of the RWE We Care ethos including initiatives in behavioural safety, wellbeing and sustainability to ensure the businesses has a positive impact on its people by engaging and developing relationships with operational and management teams to eliminate and reduce risks, develop HSE culture on site and adherence to HSE standards and rules with the ultimate goal to ensure everyone goes home safely.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at 4/C or above including Maths and English
  • Keen to learn and develop
  • Have a good moral compass and high ethical standards
  • Show a keen interest in other people's health and wellbeing as well as the protection of the environment
  • Have good problem solving skills and be well organised
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Confident at heights and at sea which requires a good level of allround fitness and health for this you will have to complete sea survival and working at height training and pass an offshore medical
  • Microsoft Office skills


The role will be based at Grimsby Hub in the Port of Grimsby although occasional travel too other RWE sites in the UK and Europe will be required.

The individual will be expected to regularly work in the offshore environment and on the Service Operations Vessel which will include offshore overnight stays.

Study will be part time for at North Lincolnshire College,
Scunthorpe. The individual should live within 45 minutes commute of Grimsby. College travel expenses will paid.

Holidays
