Role Summary:
We are seeking exceptional Python and Django Developers to join our expanding team.

You will be part of a team supporting the UK Net Zero objective by developing software for Low Carbon energy generation.


You will have diverse projects to work on, including our Digital Platform for collaborating with Generators, Settlement Systems, and Data Reporting services within nuclear, hydrogen, and electricity generation.

You should have strong expertise in building Python applications.

As a Python Backend Developer, you will work with a growing team of software engineers, data modelers, and quants.

Together, you will create and maintain LCCC's digital platform, which includes multiple applications like settlements tools, forecasting tools, digital platforms, calculation engines, data portals, and other necessary applications to aid the UK in achieving Net Zero by 2050.

You will collaborate on various project teams focusing on generation areas such as nuclear, hydrogen, solar, and tidal power.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design highly scalable software solutions to enhance functionality and system longevity
  • Collaborate with technical business analysts and solution architects to refine requirements
  • Develop modules that meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Coordinate deployments and monitor integration
  • Manage design, build, test, and bug fix activities
  • Prepare, review, and update technical documentation
  • Build reusable components
  • Optimize microservices for performance
  • Stay updated on application development and programming languages
Skills Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Python coding with Django framework
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with microservices and related tools such as Docker, AWS, Kafka, Lambda
  • Experience in RESTful API development, transactional management
  • Proficiency in databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL
  • Knowledge of data science libraries is advantageous
  • Solid grasp of design patterns and implementation models
  • Understanding of DevOps tools, GitLab, CI/CD, build pipelines, and source control systems
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure services and other languages (e.g., C#, C) is a plus
  • Preferably previous experience in the electricity and gas utilities sector

The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) plays a crucial role in decarbonizing electricity generation and ensuring its affordability for the future.

LCCC primarily manages Contracts for Difference (CfDs) agreements with renewable generators, providing investors with confidence to invest in low carbon technology.
