Main duties of the job

To ensure that patients are treated with dignity and respect, to ensure that high quality of care is given.

To advise patients and carers on health care issues and support them in times of stressful and emotional events which are frequently emotionally demanding to the nurse and demanding on their time.

Performing clinical skills relevant to individual clinics clinical observations, urinalysis, venepuncture.

Decontamination and tracking of equipment after use.

Assisting the Consultant and other Healthcare professionals within the clinical setting independently.

To support and assist in audits / monitoring / collecting data / transferring data to other sources; in collaboration with the department manager & Matron.

Job responsibilities

To support professionally qualified staff in providing quality care forpatients in roles, which are mainly related to direct patient care this is ageneric job description, which covers the range of duties that a healthcareassistant (direct patient care) may be required to undertake.

To comply with all Trust Policies and Procedures to maintain a safeworking environment for patients and staff.

To attend to the activities of daily living needs of patients, under thesupervision and direction of a qualified nurse, to ensure that patients receivecare appropriate to their needs. Allcare given must be documented in the patient record and countersigned by atrained.

To report any untoward incidents and complaints.

To act always in a manner which promotes positive working relationshipsand maintains the professional image of the Trust.
