Monday to Friday: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm (with an unpaid half hour lunch break)

Term Time only plus 5 days by agreement
Scale G3 - £17,211 per annum for the hours shown

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:


The person appointed will assist with the smooth running of the school's financial management under the direction of the Finance Officer.

You will assist with a range of financial and operational matters and help to ensure the school achieves 'Best Value' at all times.


Responsible to:
Finance Officer

Key responsibilities:

  • To assist with the financial procedures, controls and operations within the school, ensuring they are clear, timely, accurate, achieve best value for the school and carried out in accordance with the principles of sound internal control, the Harrow LA Scheme for Financing Schools and the school's Financial Procedures and
Scheme of Delegations and other relevant regulations.

  • To assist with the complete, accurate and timely recording and processing of financial transactions on the school's Financial Management System (currently SIMS) including: a. Recording of all orders and deliveries, including investigating any outstanding orders to expedite their delivery. b. The organisation of the school's lettings/hirers, including handling enquiries, timetabling lettings, liaising with site supervisors, billing and receipt of income c. The organisation of the school's asset register, ensuring the register is kept up to date and the equipment is located and identified in accordance with audit expectations. d. Monthly reconciliation processes
  • To process the school's official orders in accordance with Harrow LAs financial regulations.
  • To manage the receipt of deliveries and arrange safe storage of packages that may arrive in school
  • To assist with the counting and collation of incoming money for trips, activities etc.
  • Provide verbal and printed reports as required by Heads of Department or other authorised budget holders to facilitate their management of their delegated budgets.
  • Work co-operatively with the Business Manager and Finance Officer, providing reports as required.
  • To adhere to financial and end of year procedures and work closely with the Finance Officer and Business
Manager to ensure audit expectations are met and carried out.

  • To provide routine financial guidance and assistance to students and staff and be able to provide administrative support for reports and letters.
  • Attend all necessary meetings and courses required of the post including those relating to training and professional development.
  • To work co-operatively with the school's system for Performance Management.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The post holder will:

  • Have knowledge of financial systems and procedures. This is desirable but not essential as training will be given
  • Be highly numerate and literate with a good level of education
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, clearly and accurately both orally and in writing with a wide range of people
  • Have strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own work load, meet all deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Have excellent computer and administrative skills and be experienced in MS Office, Word, Excel and
Publisher. To have a working knowledge of SIMS would be an advantage, but is not essential

  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking and flexible in their approach
  • Be a positive team player, willing to assist and support, where needed and believe in the importance of team work and a collaborative approach
  • Have a pro-active approach to problem-solving
