The Dermatology Department has an exciting and varied role for a part-time hours p/w) vacancy for a Clinical Office Coordinator.


This role also encompasses dealing with typing of clinical letters, booking appointments as needed, uploading these results on to Cerner.

This vacancy requires interaction with patients, GPs, Consultants, and team members.

This is an opportunity to work in a fascinating specialty with a friendly team. Training and comprehensive support is provided.

  • To act as personal secretary to one or more of the Dermatology Consultants, liaising on a day to day basis and prioritising own work load.
  • Typing of clinic letters, using Cerner database, discharge summaries and admin letters from tapes or dictation or written copy as required. Letters can sometimes contain distressing circumstances. Letters are in a pooled system and typed in date / priority order.
  • Pathology and blood results should be actioned and filed appropriately daily, making sure urgent results are shown to Consultant as soon as possible, where this is not possible, this will need to be escalated to the Office Manager.
  • Ensure that laboratory results, Xrays, letters and other records are filed accurately.
  • To keep Consultant's diary and arrange meetings when required.

To deal with telephone enquiries from GPs, patients and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner to ensure that appropriate messages are passed onto the relevant people in a timely fashion.

To communicate highly sensitive information to patients / consultants. To act as a personal secretary to one or more of the Dermatology consultants, liaising daily and prioritising workload.

To ensure and maintain the efficient and effective administration of the Dermatology clinics, cancelling and amending clinic lists following instruction from the clinicians, Senior Sister and ADM.

Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative service to the Consultants and multi-disciplinary team.


The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications or at least two years' experience of working as a Medical Secretary and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.
