Headway Shropshire is a leading charity providing support and rehabilitation to people with acquired brain injuries in Shropshire.

We need a Senior Support Worker to join our offices on the Oxon Business Park on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.


The post is 37.5 hours a week, working part time within the office as well as covering calls in the community.

The rate of pay is £ £12.06 per hour. Basic salary including on-call and sleep in shifts circa £31,076.67 per annum.


The Senior Support Worker reports to our Service Manager and is responsible for maintaining connections between field staff and management, building positive relations with clients and their families, and representing Headway Shropshire in meetings and client reviews.

The day-to-day role of the Senior is to carry out the following duties:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and professionals.
  • Manage all client schedules, ensuring support plans are being met.
  • Be involved in support reviews and assessment of clients.
  • To review and update risk assessments accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and support colleagues to do so.
  • Actively participate in training of self and team.
  • Support Service Manager to maintain compliance with all legal and company requirements.
  • Ensure that our clients are receiving the very best service.
  • To actively safeguard clients and promote safeguarding procedures plus whistleblowing amongst the team.
  • See that all measures are taken to protect client privacy and dignity.
  • Document and report any issues to the management team immediately and actively seek solutions to rectify problems.
  • To monitor performance of support workers and mentor new staff.
  • Maintain systems Microsoft 365, PASS System, Every Life and Care Planner.
  • Out of hours on call duties on a roster basis.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social care desirable
  • Excellent computer skills including proficient use of MS Office, including Microsoft 36
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Selfmotivated and flexible, with a willingness to participate in an oncall system for out of office hours.
  • Great organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and kind.
  • Able to multitask and prioritise tasks.

  • Able to act decisively and maintain discretion.
