Our Legal team works across the business, providing legal advice and ensuring integrity and best practice procedures are in place.
The Senior Lawyer ensures pro-active, timely and effective legal advice is provided to the LTA, including in relation to commercial contracts, data protection, corporate governance, sports discipline, sports regulation, safeguarding, dispute resolution, intellectual property, and property.
Key Accountabilities- Lead on the provision of proactive legal advice and assistance on a wide range of legal issues where required (for example: commercial contracts, data protection, corporate governance, sports discipline, sports regulation, safeguarding, dispute resolution, charity law, intellectual property and property) and advise the business on compliance with all its legal requirements.
- Lead on ensuring that the business complies with the requirements of legislation relating to data protection.
- Lead on providing company secretarial and corporate governance advice to LTA Tennis Foundation (the charitable company within the LTA group), and arrange and manage the provision of legal advice to it from external legal advisors.
- Advise on the LTA's constitutional and governing documents and assist the Head of Legal on company secretarial and corporate governance matters and deputise for them where required.
- Lead on drafting and advising on and (where appropriate) negotiating key contracts for the LTA.
- Provide support to the Performance team on contracts, selection policies and selection meetings and other performance related matters.
- Lead on legal matters related to the LTA's immigration endorsement policy.
- Assess and, where required, lead on contentious and non-contentious legal issues, balancing and managing in-house legal expertise against the need to seek managed external advice.
- Instruct and manage external legal advisors where appropriate.
- Manage the delegation of work to the Lawyer and provide support on their work and development.
- Manage and support the Lawyer's and the Case Officer and Legal Team Support's handling of disciplinary cases and deputise for the Head of Legal in their role as Disciplinary Officer where required.
- Work closely with and deputise for the Head of Legal when appropriate on delegated tasks.
- Liaise effectively and confidently with colleagues at all levels of the LTA and externally.
- Build, manage and maintain strong inter-departmental relationships and communication within the organisation and work in partnership with other team members. How to apply Please apply directly via the careers page on our website.
